so as you all know, the new DSLR's on the market will have the ability to shoot HD video and store clips onto the compact flash cards. ::whoopdee frickin doo:: Zacuto, maker of handheld rigs for video cameras, is about to release the same version for the DSLR. this is ridiculous. nowadays where everyone is a "photographer", now every "photographer" is a "cinematographer".

Not quite sure what you don't get. Many people want to use the shallow DOF DSLR's to shoot indpenedent features. Having a Follow Focus, Matte box, being able to handhold it are basic tools for filmmaking. This will eventually be the future. Embrace it.
I understand the tools and basic needs for making films. I'm not knockin' the evolution of technology...In fact I agree with you fully. What does worry me is what will happen to the EPK cameramen, the union set photographers, and all these established people once average Joes with $2800 buy this camera and think they are not only photographers, but qualified DP's as well.
It's what the RED camera did to the industry. When they fix all the bugs with that sucker then maybe it's worth what they preach.
And maybe when a 24p DSLR with over/undercranking capabilites and sound inputs comes out, I may be impressed.
