Luxembourg

Luxembourg is awesome...it's tucked away in between France, Belgium, and Germany. the entire country is the size of LA county and there's about 500,000 people here. you get to experience a beautiful European city without the chaos of tourists and streets hustlers like in Paris. it's a peaceful + colorful place and the people here are super chill. what's dope is that they speak 4 languages fluently...Luxembourgish, French, German, and English. they learn all 4 in school since they have people from neighboring countries coming into the country to work every day. pretty amazing.

Zurich Airport...Switzerland.

on the way to Luxembourg i had to stop in Zurich for a couple of hours. i gotta say this place is cool and kinda creepy. it's one of the coolest/cleanest/modern airports i've ever been to and yet today it was so quiet and had barely anyone there. it's a small airport, used mostly as a transfer point for people coming and going. a sleek + chic airport in the middle of green fields with an abundance of shops and places to eat...lots of chocolate too. didn't see too many army knives though, but i know they're somewhere. the smoking lounges are so cool it made me want to light up a cig just so i could walk inside.

New York City

oh New York it's been a while, you kicked my ass this time with your late nights and humid weather. but it was fun kickin' it on your rooftops and eating at all the cool places.

all in all this trip was fun...sat in the last row of the plane seat 44F next to the bathroom on the way there, but hey it's all good. spent way too much money and drank way too much. don't ever go to the meatpacking district to party (sorry Ruby i know you like this area). John this was all your fault. get me on first class next time, jerk. but would i do it again, yeah for sure.

funny sign...

saw this at a KFC drive-thru in LA. i guess it's easier and cheaper to keep trimming the tree instead of moving the sign.

Catacombes de Paris

deep underneath Paris are the bones of roughly 6 million Parisians, a whole city of the dead...and YPM got a first hand look at what the fuss is all about.

but after a narrow endless spiral staircase dropping 65 feet under the city, things get pretty surreal. the whole place is combination of eerie/awesome/spectacular...eersometacular...i've never seen anything like it...the meticulously stacked bone piles stretch out through a labyrinth of tunnels for 300 kilometers (that's 186 miles of tunnel)

it's so quiet you can hear it.

the part that you're able to walk for the tour is about a mile and you're 9 blocks away from the entrance when you exit the "Empire of the Dead"

Montmartre has a lot of poop

ventured into the Montmartre district of Paris today...the hills there remind me of SF. it's where you'll find the Moulin Rouge show, the Sacré Coeur church on top of a huge hill, and lots of places that were filmed for the movie Amelie, including the cafe where she worked where i had some coffee.

i've also found out that Parisians don't really pick up after their dogs because there is dog shit...everywhere.

Paris part deux

bonjour,

day two: made our way to check out Champs Elysees, the busiest street in Paris. it's there where i got to try macaroons from the Laduree pastry place. the Arc de Triomphe is on the same street...then hopped on the metro to the Eiffel Tower...the tower is HUGE. it's a lot taller in person. decided to walk halfway up, which seemed like a fun idea when we were at the bottom...but about 50 flights up i started to wish we took the elevator. the view from the top is sooooo coooooool. you can see all of Paris. more pics are on my fbook album of the trip...

Bonjour!

YPM arrived in Paris today...what a dope city. Mel gave me a tour of the town and we ended up at the Louvre, saw the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. still jet lagged since my flight over was pretty rough. i've only been here a day and there was so much to see. this city is amazing. i snapped a bunch of pics but i'm tired so here are photos from the Louvre museum. more to come...

on the way home

i always pass by these huge wind fans on the 580 east freeway when i drive back home to LA...everytime i see them i always say i'll pull over and take a picture next time. well, i never did pull over for 2 years due to the light/time of day, traffic, or weather conditions. and the last time heading home i wanted to get the shot but missed the patch of pavement to pull over and drove away pissed off...but, today i was fortunate.
